Congrats to The Bossier City Firefighters for earning MDAs top honor in the state. BC was presented with The Golden Boot Award at the state convention for collecting $60,882.

New Fire Chief

Bossier City Mayor Lorenz Walker on Tuesday named fire prevention officer Brad Zagone as his choice to be the city's new fire chief. Zagone would replace Sammy Halphen, who retired to become chief of homeland security for Bossier Parish. His appointment is contingent on passing the civil service test for fire chief. That test will be taken at the end of the month. Thirty-two people, including 18 from the Bossier City Fire Department, applied to be fire chief. Zagone, 38, is a 16-year veteran of the Fire Department. He started on the fire line and rose to the rank of captain before being selected fire chief. The Fire Prevention Bureau investigates the causes of fires, conducts fire inspections and teachers fire safety. Zagone has been a member of the Fire Department's bomb squad
